oh by the way - yes, i am broke. broke and footsore as the saying goes. there was an unplanned trip to Down Under last week which wiped my renovation money out -- almost completely. so budgets to adorn the house with stuffs have dwindled faster than the incredible shrinking woman. this means, for the upcoming Eid, the house is probably going to look rather empty. oh well...
polishing up the marble floor was finally happening last Sat. the sad looking fella finally stopped by the house and polished the floor --with 2 bad news:
- the black borders aint marble. it is granite. i could have murdered the woman who sold me the black borders. marble & granite just dont mix - just like the white & the black. granite cant be polished. this means the outer surface of the border cant be polished.
- the machine the sad looking follow brought was smoking death the moment he switched it on! the machine was to be used to suck up all the water used to polish the marble. and yep, some of the wooden furniture did absorb the water (after being immersed in water for 2 -3 hours!) like a cheap sponge-- and swell the furniture did.
i told the guy not to come back until he had the machine repaired. he just called - Mr Polisher will come back tomorrow. i had asked him to ensure all wooden fixtures were wrapped with plastic to minimize further damages. for his sake, i hope he would.
there has been a considerable progress with the doors, kitchen counter and island. see for yourself as below.
surprisingly there was a good 5 feet of space clearance between the wall and and the kitchen island. this meant, i could move the piano back to its old place. that would solve a lot of problems in terms of space. let's hope the piano looks belonged there. oh well, that will be the first option.
tomorrow would see the louvres installed on the 2 windows. so with this being done, it should be no more than 2 weeks before all the woodwork is completed.
