Kitchen progress...

20% of the progress

50% of the progress

70% of the progress

kitchen progress - conceptually

final confirmation has been received for the kitchen island. methinks the cabinetmaker is going to kill me any day now for keeping on adding new features to the kitchen cabinets -- the last being a concealed trash bin underneath the kitchen counter but hey, no one says it is easy to make money! besides, it does look nifty and it completes the picture!

like it or not - ikea does think about everything what one might need in a kitchen.
yep, the concealed trash bin is  a must!

progress after 6 weeks

the floor is coated with sealant and left to dry before
installation of the marble. lower part of the wall is also
coated with water proofing

the room is painted white and now empty
in preparation of the marble installation on Monday.
the marble floors will all be coated with sealant as
a double protection from water which comes from
the soil underneath.

bathroom floor is done - and so is the wall. the wall
will keep its concrete gray color but will be painted
with lacquer to protect the cement.

bathroom mosaics (check)

yes, bathroom is done for mosaics installation at least. next to clean each single of the mosaic tile with acid.

4 days hiatus

i cursed that celaka dumping services till he drops dead.

for rm160, we rented a trash service truck where we can just throw all rubbish into this hell hole for easy removal. lo and behold, when i came home today, this huge dumping container was gone - the work still isnt finished. so i called the moron and told him off. i swear, i will report him to some business bureau. that ought to teach that trash some lesson. but then what can you expect from a pig but a grunt. dust to dust, ashes to ashes and trash to trash.

and now the contractors...they couldnt come yesterday because of some nonsense issues. on fri they normally dont come to work - following middle east countries that dont work on Fri due to Friday prayers - not sure why they are on that time-zone practice. and tomorrow, no thanks to Ambiga jadah, they aint coming to work as they will be the first to be pulled over by police if found on the street. and Sun is their official off-day as the head has regular appointments on Sun. this means, this week they only work 3 days - much to my mom's chagrin. somehow my mom is more concerned about their work schedule than i am. my mom's constant inquisition about their whereabout is driving me nuts. me no like it.

the cabinetmakers are supposed to meet me today to take measurements of the electrical appliances which need to be mounted on the kitchen island. it is 10 till 5pm...which is their appointed time. if they stood me up, i shall be spitting lava at them. this is final the drawing they sent 3 days ago.

Fresh paint

nothing smells better than the smell of a fresh paint in a house.

room 2 was done today - amidst all manner of inconveniences that have befallen to the contractors from food poisoning, car breakdown to heavy downpour this morning. what is left is the marble floor installation which will start tomorrow. they even managed to paint the room today! white, of course.

starting yesterday, i started to pack some of the personal stuffs that were left lying around since the renovation started 4 weeks ago. i should have packed them before but oh well...we do have other commitments that needed my utmost attention. anyway, the packing continues today as i managed to get more boxes from all over. i have been squatting at my sister's house past 3 weeks and since the family is coming back next week, the house needs to be tidied up to welcome them home.

the mosaics installation in the bathroom is almost done too. it is only 38" by 80" (times 2 walls) but the work seems to go on forever. the reason being the mosaics require more details than normal tiles for installation. some parts were uneven and these have to be un-installed and re-installed. normal tiles installation will take 1.5 days but for mosaics, this requires at least 3 days.

marble floor installation for room 2 will start tomorrow and this will take another 2 days - thereafter work for bedroom will start. i am crossing my fingers that all this can be done by this Sat - which is being overly optimistic.

benji & chombi really miss home!
